Trunk Club – Review #2

I can’t believe it’s already been a month since I got my first Trunk from Trunk Club. A lot has happened in the last month! I hope the next few weeks will slow down, but I highly doubt it since school starts this week.

My stylist, Taylor, is GREAT at listening to what I want. My favorite thing about Trunk Club is the ability to speak to the person that styles you. You can literally text them back and forth through the app, or speak to them on the phone. Another great feature is previewing things before they come. The first preview I got of this trunk, I didn’t like more than half of the things. They just weren’t my style. Sometimes I will take things I wouldn’t normally choose for myself, because I do want to get out of my comfort zone, but if I REALLY don’t like something, I can decline it and it will never come. Then that item can be replaced with something else that I might actually like and keep.

Oliver was in the room with us while I was trying everything on, so he’s mixed into a lot of the pictures!

If you aren’t familiar with how Trunk Club works, here’s the run down:

What to expect:

  • Instead of 5 items like Stitch Fixmost trunks ship with 10-15 items inside.
  • Typically, you won’t switch your stylist. Once you’re matched with someone, she’ll be your go-to person.
  • You can communicate with your stylist any time you want via email or over the phone. Yes, you read that right! You actually get to communicate with your stylist. This is probably my favorite feature of the service, and the biggest difference from any other I’ve seen.
  • Everything in the box is from Nordstrom, which means you have access to some really wonderful, high-quality brands.
Getting Started with Trunk Club:
  • Create a free Trunk Club profile. Whenever you’re ready, you can arrange to have your first trunk sent. Then the fun begins!
  • You’ll be matched with your stylist, who will select a variety of items that she thinks are perfect for you based on your style profile and anything you’ve sent her.
  • Once the styles are picked, your stylist will send you a preview of the whole Trunk. This is your chance to look over the items she has selected and give feedback. You can reject whatever you don’t like before it even ships. If something isn’t your style or is way out of your price range, let your stylist know. It’s much better to be honest with your stylist, whether about style or price of things. Their goal is to make you happy!
  • Once you give your stylist feedback on your Trunk Preview, she will go back and begin filling your Trunk with new items to replace the pieces you rejected. You won’t get to see the new items before they ship, so there is still an element of surprise when your Trunk arrives.
  • You can still change your mind. If for some reason, you preview your Trunk and don’t like what you see, you do have the option of cancelling the order.
Now that you’re all caught up on how Trunk Club works, let’s see what arrived in my Trunk this month!

I know mules are very big in fashion right now, especially in this blush velvet, but they are just not my style. I do love that they’re so easy and you can just slide them on. And these looked very pretty in person. Just not for me. I did want to try them out, so I’m glad I kept them from the preview.

I told Tayler that I love Kendra Scott, so she sent me a piece by her. I didn’t keep it just because I didn’t like the rhinestones around the pendent. It just isn’t my style. But it did look great with all of the outfits!

I LOVE this sweater. It’s adorable, and it’s so soft! But I already have one very similar to it, so I had to send it back. I am going to see if they have it in another color that they can send, because it’s a great price and so comfortable. I love the back detail, too.

You might recognize this from my first box. I had to exchange it, and they were out of my size at the time. I’m so glad it came back, though! I love the bell sleeves of this top, and the material is so flowy. This is perfect for my Bridal Shower! Such a keeper.

This jacket is so cute. I love the color, and it’s still neutral enough to go with most things. It’s surprisingly warm since it’s knit, and I just really like the way it fits. It’s a great staple piece for colder months, too.

This top is definitely more for the summer. I decided to let it come anyway, just to see if I’d like it as a cover up for later, but I wasn’t a big fan of the tassels. It was soft and comfortable and fit well, but not for me. Back it goes.

This top did not fit me like it looks on the model lol. I felt so awkward in it. I love the neckline of it, but the sleeves had a lot of extra fabric up top and it just wasn’t me. It was comfortable and lazy, but not something I could wear to work so it was not for me.

These booties were SO soft. The leather was a perfect taupe color, which the website picture does not do it justice. I decided not to keep them because I’m trying to stick to a budget for the wedding, and I just don’t NEED to spend $100 on these right now. I did like them, and they fit pretty well. Just can’t do it right now.

I’m wearing these jeans in all of the pictures. They were comfortable, but not exactly what I want. They were comfortable, but I can’t put my finger on it. There was just no wow factor for $98.

Jake liked this top, but I wasn’t in love with it. Originally, Taylor was going to send this in a floral pattern, and I said I wasn’t a big fan of it but I’d like it in a solid color. She delivered! I was hopeful I’d like it more, but didn’t love it enough to spend $80 on it.

So I know the best thing about expensive things is the way they fit. These felt like sliding my foot into a cloud. They’re fleece lined and real suede, so they’re SO amazingly soft and yummy warm. However, they are almost $500 and THAT just isn’t happening. I was not in love with the look, but I was in love with the warmth. Just not enough to spend so much!

Overall, I really thought this box hit my style pretty spot on. Taylor seems to pay attention to what is on my Pinterest because they styles she sent are super similar. Not all of them work out every time, but that’s good because I don’t really want to drop $400 every month!

Since I’m getting married in 9 months, I told Taylor this next round on needs to be on the cheaper side. I have to stick to my budget! I’m interested to see what kinds of things she can find for me next month.

  • Simple is always better. I tried so hard to figure out what I was going to wear for Easter. I spent a good hour trying things on the week before. I sent my sister tons of pictures asking her thoughts. In the end, I wasn’t really satisfied with any of them for some reason so I decided to just go with an outfit I know I love and feel good in. For some reason wearing white just makes me feel super put together. And I managed to not spill anything on myself or get chocolate on my pants which is a major win y’all. .

We don’t need to overthink things so much. It just causes unnecessary stress. I do like to plan ahead because it saves me time, but I also should have realized sooner that the dress I was trying to make work just wasn’t working. Even though I love that dress, it doesn’t flatter me how I want it to and it might be time to let it go. Don’t be afraid to let go of things that don’t give you exactly what you need. You don’t have to settle, something else will always come along. Or you probably already have something else in your closet (or life, this isn’t limited to clothes!) that’s even better than what you’re trying to make work!
  • Happy Easter 🐰❤️
  • Casual Good Friday ❤️ this was yesterday’s work outfit but I jazzed myself up before we went to church with Jakes mom and stepdad last night. I cried like a baby. Good Friday always both kicks my ass and reminds me how blessed we all are.
The beautiful KC weather this weekend is so exciting!! I’m so happy when it’s Spring weather 😍 Have a beautiful Saturday!!
  • “There is beauty in simplicity”
My simple wardrobe makes me so happy and I love the seemingly endless possibilities I have with it. Having a love of neutrals really works well for me with this!
Happy Good Friday ❤️
  • The only things in my life these days are the things I really want there. This isn’t limited to the stuff in my house and the clothes in my closet. This includes my job, relationships, hobbies, everything. I’ve even started eating better as a by-product of simplifying my life and I just feel better over all. .

By removing the things and people that don’t make me happy, I have more time and energy for the things that do that I used to put off and not prioritize like I should have. We spend so much of our lives being “busy”. But what are we busy with? Most of it is actually unimportant when you break it down. .

I say no to things much more now and that allows me to spend more of my time relaxing and enjoying life. I used to constantly feel rushed or like I should be doing something. If I wasn’t moving, I felt like I was wasting my time. But the truth is, resting and just being home with Jake and the boys is my happy place. It brings me so much joy, so that’s what my priority is. .

Having more time to just BE has been amazing. Being more picky in my relationships has helped me really value the ones I hold most dear and has brought me to an amazing new job because I wasn’t willing to settle for anything less. Respect yourself and your time and prioritize the things that matter most to you. Life’s too short to live any other way.
  • “When you love what you have, you have everything you need.” So many wonderful things have happened since I simplified my life. Changing my outlook on life wasn’t really intentional, but I’m so thankful it happened when it did. I was kind of at a breaking point. Fed up with where I was and how things were going with my old job. Struggling with depression and comparison. I knew something had to change but I had no idea what. Simplicity was that thing. .
.
Now, I spend way less time on social media. I deleted Facebook off my phone and haven’t looked at it in weeks. I’m much happier without it. I read a lot more. I’m getting much better at ignoring the impulse to pick up my phone and when I am on it, to compare my life to the perfect pictures people post. I even cut a few inches off my hair! 💇🏻‍♀️ I want things as easy as they can be right now. It takes a lot of stress out of my life. Try to go a whole weekend without social media and see how awesome it feels!
