Work Wear Friday – Feb. 16, 2018

Hi All! I took a much-needed break last week, but am happy to be back. Last week was midterm week and things have been crazy at work, so I’m trying not to burn the candle at both ends. I also worked from home all of last week, so I only had leggings and Jake’s sweatshirts to show haha!

I am happy to report I got A’s on both midterms and am so happy I’m half way done with these classes because having to be in class in person from 6pm-10pm 2 days a week is reeeallly wearing me thin these days.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine’s Day! This was my first Valentine’s Day with Jake (we started officially dating a week after last year), and I love LOVE so Jake knew it needed to be special. Valentine’s Day is also my half birthday (meaning the 6 month mark right in between). If you follow me on Instagram (which you should!), you already know Jake came to surprise me at work and hand deliver an Edible Arrangement to me to just make me smile. He knows I’ve been stretched thin lately with work and school being so busy. It was so, so sweet of him. He even got a bigger one so I could share it with everyone! Bonus points. I’ve included a picture for you below 🙂

Since I have class on Wednesday nights, he took me to a very nice dinner on Thursday at the place where we had our first “fancy” date. It’s called Bristol Seafood Grill, and if you live in KC you NEED to go! It was so wonderful to be able to go back almost a year later and reminisce on how much has changed since we started dating. Who knew 10 months after we had that date we would get engaged!! (He did, I did not haha)

Now, for the weeks outfits:

The week started off cold, so I had to break out a turtleneck. This simple grey one with all black everything else really captured my Monday feelings lol. I’m kind of obsessed with this necklace I got from Nordstrom Rack and loved how it added to this outfit. These Liverpool jeans from one of my StitchFix boxes are so comfortable they feel like leggings. I love them!

I wasn’t feeling anything too special on Tuesday. I’m pretty over my winter wardrobe by now and am trying to force myself to re-wear everything in different ways. If I don’t reach for it, I plan on getting rid of it in my next closet purge to make room for the things I reach for all the time! This navy top is old, I got it from Charlotte Russe a few years ago and it just doesn’t do that much for me anymore. I threw one of my favorite Express Cardigans over it with some grey booties, but felt pretty meh that day.

Valentine’s Day! Of course, I had class so we didn’t celebrate that night, but I did love my lunch time surprise visit. I am always festive on V-Day, so I wore this red Express Portofino shirt (which I literally have in 6 colors). My forever faithful Paige jeans, and Steve Madden OTK boots (mine are sold out, similar here). Oh, I love them. I was nervous when I bought them thinking “will I ever wear these?” Come to find out I wear them at LEAST once a week. Talk about L-O-V-E.

So close to Friday… Still feeling festive, I wore this pretty blush pink top that I scored from Marshalls for $20 a few months ago. I love the light pink, it’s very popular right now. This cardigan was from my last Stitch Fix box, and I knew that I wouldn’t want to wear heels all day and then again at night since we were going to dinner, so I opted for my flat riding boots. I love this necklace, it’s so simple (and cheap!) and matched perfectly to add a cute little touch.

*I’ve gotten a lot of questions about the dress I wore to dinner Thursday so I’ll be doing a separate post on that!*

Finally! The last day before the weekend! I am living for the weekends with how busy life is right now…it’s my own bit of downtime and I need all I can get. It was cold again today, so I went for one of my oversized cowl neck sweaters. Most of my sweaters this season have been from Express, this one is no exception (and it’s on sale!). Again, I didn’t feel like wearing heels all day, so riding boots were an easy choice. Plus, with Spring coming, I have to wear them while I still can!

I hope everyone has a wonderful, relaxing weekend!!
