This past weekend was my bachelorette party and bridal shower, and just wow, y’all. What an amazing weekend. I’m so thrilled to be able to share it with you all! We’ll start with what all we did Saturday for my Bachelorette party.

I have to start off by saying a HUGE THANK YOU to my sister (and Matron of Honor), Julie. She seriously went above and beyond planning everything out. She wanted it all to be a surprise, and somehow managed to pull it off without a hitch! I’m so beyond impressed with her and thankful that she put so much effort in to make it all amazing for me.

In case you’re new here, I moved to Kansas City in 2014 for work. My parents and my sister all live in Virginia, so that’s where I go when I go back home. I flew in Friday and had to rush to find a dress for what we were doing Saturday. I had ordered 3, but didn’t like any of them! Thankful we found a really cute one on clearance for $13! I was psyched. Unfortunately it’s sold out online, but can be found in store at Charlotte Russe! I’ve linked a similar version, and it has a romper version, too.

On Saturday morning, my sister brought me my amazing Harry Potter themed Bride shirt that says “I solemnly swear that we are up to no good”, which I absolutely loved. My best friends and I all LOVE Harry Potter; I even have a Harry Potter tattoo! It is very special to me as reading those books helped me through a lot of hard times in my life.

Julie told me everyone had the same theme of shirts but everyone’s said something different. I couldn’t wait to see them all. My sisters said Head of Mischief, My mom’s said Bride’s Mum, Courtney’s said Mischief Maid, Toby’s said Mischief Managed, and Carolina’s was my favorite saying “The Wedding doesn’t start until I Slytherin”.

We drove up to Baltimore, MD where we met up with the rest of my besties who make up most of my bridal party. I was so happy to see them! I only get to see them once a year typically, so this year will be wonderful as I’ll get to see everyone three times.

Our first activity of the day was to go on a Wacky Walk around the Inner Harbor in Baltimore. It was really fun! We started in one location and would have to follow clues and solve puzzles to get to the next location. We also had to do tasks and answer trivia questions. It took us all around and was really interesting to learn a bit more about Baltimore. It lasted for about 2 hours.

After the walk was over, we went for Brunch at Miasy’s. Their food was so good! They chose this spot because they know I LOVE brunch. Breakfast food is my favorite kind of food and they had things like red velvet waffles. Talk about a win.

When we finished eating, two of the girls went off to do something I wasn’t allowed to know about, and the rest of us went back to walk around the Inner Harbor. It was very warm, so we decided to do something inside to keep cool. There happened to be a Build-a-Bear shop in the shopping area, so we went in and I created a Bridal Bunny!

If you’ve never been to build-a-bear, I highly suggest you check it out. It’s not just for kids! You get to pick from your choice of animals, choose how much stuffing they get, and pick out an outfit for them. I picked a very pretty bunny and dressed her in a wedding dress, complete with veil and glass slippers. It was a really fun way to commemorate the day.

After we had finished walking around to pass the time, it was finally time for us to move on to the next thing. So we went to the hotel we would be staying at that night, and I found out that was where the other 2 girls had gone — to check in and decorate the room! The hotel was beautiful and historic; we stayed at the Lord Baltimore Hotel, and I highly recommend it!

We walked through a “brick wall” banner and the room was covered in balloons and engagement ring heart confetti. Carolina is very crafty, and she made hanging candles with tea lights to look like the Great Hall and cut out wings to put on the chocolate to look like little snitches. My favorite part was the banner that said “From Muggle to Mrs”. They really went above and beyond!

We took a bunch of pictures and got ready for a night out! I still wasn’t sure what we’d be doing, I just knew what I’d be wearing for it. I soon found out they were taking me on a Dinner Cruise around the Harbor! My sister got me a very pretty baby pink Bride to Be sash that I wore all night, and everyone was so nice! Asking about the wedding and congratulating me.

The food on the cruise was GREAT. They had a big buffet with so many options. We got to dance a bit and spent time on the upper deck and enjoy the sunset. It was so beautiful. It lasted for 3 hours and we had a ball!

After we got back to the hotel, we headed up to the rooftop bar to overlook the city at night. It was a beautiful view and a perfect night! We didn’t last long as we were all exhausted. The whole day was so full of wonderful things.

I am so thankful to all of my friends for planning everything out and participating together. It was so truly wonderful and I felt so loved. It was a perfect day!

Thank you for stopping by and following along!

XO,

Dani

This quote hits home because I never realized how cluttered our apartment was and how that clutter, even though it was organized, was holding us back in unexpected ways.
This weekend we re-arranged our house a bit and I’m so in love with the results. We used to have our computer desks both in our bedroom. Although our room is pretty big, having so much furniture made it feel small and cramped. Not at all relaxing.
Since I’ve been getting rid of things like it’s my job, I sold all of our guest room furniture except the bed, leaving a whole lot of space in there. We moved the desks into that room and it made both rooms feel like a whole new space!! It’s amazing what happens when you let go of things. Happier, quieter, less cluttered. Have a wonderful Monday!

Happy Friday!!! I’m so excited for the weekend 🙌🏻I love this quote because people sometimes think having and buying more will make them better somehow. Happier, more stylish, cooler, more liked. .

Sadly, in high school, this was true. When I started wearing brand name clothes, people literally treated me completely different. I got invited to more things, different people started talking to me. It was crazy. But those people were not my real friends and I literally haven’t spoken to any of them since high school. So, goes to show how those things don’t actually matter!! Have an awesome weekend 😘
  • In honor of #nationalproposalday I want to give a shoutout to my handsome husband @jacob.thompson87 for totally nailing my engagement ring 💜😍
.
I knew I wanted something unique with a colored stone. I didn’t want a big expensive diamond or a ring that would look like anyone else’s. Jake knows my favorite color is purple so he got me a lavender sapphire with a petal halo. I also love my simple twisted wedding band. I took this picture on our honeymoon because I was so happy to finally be able to wear them together! I love how they complement each other. I never want to take them off. Have a wonderful Friday Eve!
  • “Forget the Sales price. Everything is 100% off when you don’t buy it.” .
As a fun challenge for myself, I’m going to do a shopping ban. If you’re familiar with the book “The Year of Less”, Cait goes an entire year without buying anything unnecessary (actually she ends up doing a second year after). I just finished reading it and I love the idea of not buying anything new that I don’t need.
While I’ve been purging, I’ve seen just how much I really have. There isn’t anything I need. The sales price used to get me. That seductive little red sticker would catch my attention and convince me I needed that piece in my closet because it’s such a great deal. BUT it’s not if you don’t need it. Save your money for things you truly love and put thought into buying, not impulse buys that will hang unworn in your closet.
  • Have you ever been so excited about something that every time you talk to someone who you see could benefit from it, you just want to tell them every single thing about it because you just want to help them? That’s how I feel about minimalism and living with less. It’s changed my life and my mindset in so many ways and all I want to do is tell people about it. But I don’t, unless they ask.
You can’t force change on people. They have to come to their own conclusions in their own time. They have to have their own inspiration *ah ha!* moments like you had. You can talk until you’re blue in the face, but they won’t HEAR you until they’re ready. The best way to show them how great something is is by being an example! Be the change you wish to see. Maybe you can inspire others with your happiness. Happy Tuesday!
  • “If you don’t have time for things that matter, stop doing things that don’t.” - @bemorewithless .
This weekend (and in general, lately) I took a little break from social media. Since I started my new job, this weekend was the first actual weekend Jake and I have spent together since we got back from our honeymoon in October. Crazy, right?! It was wonderful to spend time with family and get stuff done together and just enjoy the time we had. Making time for what’s important is so crucial to your mental health and the health of your relationships! If you’re too busy, remove the things that aren’t actually important and make time for the things that are.
