For anyone wanting to read more about capsule wardrobes, I wanted to create a post to put all of the resources on my blog in one place for easy access.
My blog is dedicated to helping anyone build and maintain their own capsule wardrobe. I fully believe they simplify life (among many other benefits), and it’s so much nicer to love everything in your closet and feel great in all of it. I want to help you do that!
Getting started with a capsule can feel overwhelming, so think of this post as a road map for helping you navigate the process from start to finish. I include all kinds of tips and tricks for the entire process, my biggest mistakes, favorite pieces and more!
Here we go:
If you’re still on the fence about whether or not you should start your own capsule, here is a post about 10 Reasons Why Capsule Wardrobes are the best.
In that post, I talk through how starting a capsule has made such a positive impact on my life. How things were for me before and how they’ve changed since my big closet clean out.
Once you’re ready to get started, the first obvious post is How to Start a Capsule Wardrobe.
This post hits on 6 steps for getting started:
- Clean out your closet
- Notice what you keep & get rid of
- Choose a color palette
- Know your lifestyle
- Determine your style & build
- Curating your closet is an ongoing process
Next up, I have a post that deep dives into How to Choose a Color Palette for your Capsule.
This post hits on base colors, accent colors, prints, patterns, and textures. How to incorporate them, how to choose what works for you, and not to be afraid of any of them!
Since I made a ton of mistakes in the beginning of my capsule journey, mostly trying to make it what what I thought it should be instead of what I needed and wanted it to be. Check out my Biggest Capsule Wardrobe Mistakes here.
I also have an entire post dedicated to TIPS for starting and maintaining your capsule. It has my 10 best tips for not only the beginning stages when you’re getting rid of things and building your foundation, but also tips for styling, shopping, and what to expect while you go. See my Capsule Wardrobe Tips here.
If you are wanting to create your own capsule but are worried about not having enough options, check out my outfit posts. I share tons of outfits for every season.
Having a capsule closet doesn’t limit your style at all. After 18+ months of having my own capsule, I still have things I haven’t worn together. Plus, you’ll always be adding and taking away. It’s never boring!
Pinterest is a great place to look for outfit inspo, too. It will help you define your style and get an idea of what you want to incorporate more of and what you want to let go of.
But you’ll notice on Pinterest there are tons of “essential capsule wardrobe pieces”. I disagree with those because capsules aren’t a one size fits all and can make you feel like you need certain pieces. Check out my thoughts on The Truth about Capsule Wardrobe Essentials here *hint, they’re total BS*.
There’s also an entire post dedicated to the foundation pieces of your capsule. Here is a post about the best bras and undies for your capsule.
And that’s it for now! Hopefully this post round up is helpful for you when it comes to starting your capsule. If you have any questions or anything you need a second opinion on, always feel free to leave a comment or shoot me a DM on instagram! I’m always happy to help 🙂
